Claas question

Did any company import claas small square balers to the u s repainted as their own machine like ford did with their combines? Just got wondering if that ever happened.

Not that I know of. Claas imported a few in the 1980s but I do not think they have done any more recently.

They are not even mentioned in The Claas UK website now! ( The big baler seems to have killed them off ) but they still make them for certain markets. I did hear though that here in The UK at least parts are virtually impossible to get :(
Claas Markant balers

I've seen one used Class square baler on a dealer's lot. It was a very heavily built machine. I go to a farm show once a year and have never seen a rebadged Class square baler(or round baler either for that matter). Never seen a used rebadged one either.

The Claas round balers sold under several different companies over here in years past. OMC, MF and Gehl all had drum balers that where Claas designed. The OMC had the metric shafts turned down to SAE dimensions. A neighbor had one break a drum/roller. The new one had metric shafts.

Here is a picture of a OMC 595.

I think you'll find that those balers were not licensed by Claas but perhaps used their rolls.... but the similarity ends there. The actual chamber design and drive layout is quite different than Claas Rollant balers.

We had experiences with both Claas and John Deere round balers. They both had their good points ( And indeed bad points!) but as for build quality The Claas was much better. It is a similar story with all their hay and harvest equipment. I know of farmers here who may have a fleet of JD tractors but use always a Claas combine.
