3pt disc / rural king

I'm looking to purchase a 3pt disc for a 600 ford roughly 30-32hp came across rural king they have a taylor pittsburgh disc for almost $1400. does anyone here ever shop rural king and anyone ever had any taylor pittsburgh equipment or what other options are there

I myself would not consider a 3 point disk. I would look for an older drag type instead. The only decent looking 3 point disk I have ever seen is a Ferguson and later made as a Massey Ferguson. And for one thing a disk like that will make the front of tractor light and make it unsafe to drive without counter weights on the front. They stick too far out in back and want to piviot the tractor on rear wheels when raised position. Your tractor is not heavy enough on front end.

IMHO,a three point disk is too light to do any substantial 'work'. The tractor will be pretty light in the front as well. That said,my Dad farmed many acres of ground with an 8N Ford pulling a 2x14 plow and a 3 point disk in the 50s and early 60s.Reased wheat and milo.

farmboy, this is my disc experience
I have a tractor similar to yours TO35 Ferguson

I have a 3 pt hitch disc Altas 300 6ft pickup disc similar to the red disc, that works well behind my tractor, it weights approximately 725 lbs per the brochure. I even pull a old metal pipe as a drag behind the disc and its picked up along with the disc.

I once purchased a Tufline 6ft disc, orange color disc, top of the line disc, but they are heavy built disc, I experienced the light front end with this disc and I sold it. it weighed approximately 1163 lbs per the current brochure.

you need to determine how much your disc weighs using these figures. If you are around the 725 lbs range you should be ok.

drag disc may work better, but if you have to travel any to other fields or down the road they are old school pain the bottom.

just my two cents. my disc has grease zerks, if you can afford it, get a disc that has sealed bearings, you can thank me for that advice later as you used the disc and never have to grease it.

one other thing I think you should be aware of:

these cheaper disc no longer come with disc blade scrapers, this can be a real pain if you have a small spot of ground that is a little heavy,

the dirt will ball up between the disc blades holding the disc up out of the dirt, you will be back there giving the disc and who ever made it, down the road.

I had to add short lengths of chain between each set of open disc blades to finally stop this problem.

higher end disc all used to come with scrapers.

hope you can see the small chains I add to the disc from this picture.
