fast hitch post hole digger

I bought a fast hitch post hole digger at an auction. I didn't really need it but thought it might be handy to have around. I put it on my IH 504 but since it is a utility tractor, it would not pick the auger up high enough to clear the ground. It also has the smaller fast hitch prongs on it than what the 504 has. It appears it was originally red. Most of the paint is long gone. The only identification is the number 4E373 stamped in the gearbox. The gearbox turns smooth without any slop in it. It is missing half of the driveshaft. It has a 12 inch auger. I was wondering what it might be worth and what the best way to sell it might be.
Thanks,
Mike

Don't know what it might be worth. But you can put it in the Classified Ads over on the left side.

I paid 35.00 for mine without the shaft and had to cut off the shims for the large points to fit my super C. The 1/4 inch steel shims will lift it higher but they are a little low to the ground. I have thought about adding six inches of height to the mount for more lift. Can you shorten the arms on the fast hitch with adjustments?

I would try to fix it up, can't be too many of them around.

I know most larger tractors with 3 pt hitches have sleeves available you can slip over the lower pins to make them work with the larger size lift arm balls.

I would assume that IH had the same thing, some type insert so you could use the small size 2 point hitch connection with the larger version hitch.

all I know is this, you have just one hole to dig and you have to do it with an old hand operated post hole digger, you will be like me, out there working on that tractor mounted digger.

hope you get it fixed, bet someone on here knows how to correct the problem.
picture of my old digger,

had to dig 4 holes in my grape vine arbor to replace rotten post. The digger was worth every penny I paid for it.

If I am reading your post correctly, you NEED the shims for the larger 504 FH pockets ? Make them out of stock the width and thickness to make up the difference in the pocket. Factory shims had a drilled hole near the open end, with a roll pin hammered in, to keep the shim from slipping too deep into the pocket.

There probably not many Fast Hitch diggers out there, so once it's complete, I wouldn't discount it for being FH,
