NH small square bale thrower question

Are the bale throwers made for just a particular model or are they inter changeable across different models??

There were different models of the belt thrower then there were the JD type ejector. What model thrower is going on what model baler? Back when we had the 270 it had a belt thrower with an 8 hp Briggs horizontal shaft motor so it was self contained. The later throwers required a grooved flywheel for the (Drive not the flat thrower belt itself) belts to run on. If your baler has the grooved flywheel then there are a lot of options if you are willing to do the work of adapting.

Shaft drive NH bale throwers were belt driven directly off the flat flywheel.
Hydraulic drive belt and pan throwers mounted on 311, 316, and 326 balers used a grooved ring bolted to the flat flywheel to accept the hydraulic pump drive belts.
500 series balers and later use a grooved flywheel to drive the hydraulic pump used on 72 belt style and 77 pan style throwers. The 77 pan style thrower was discontinued shortly after the 500 series of NH balers came out in 1988.

Did they not make a model 70 which had the groove type flywheel to drive it via belts? I am trying to remember what ours was maybe a 50?

My 268 came with a flat belt driven off the flat flywheel. Thrower was a pair of flat belts above and below the bale which gripped the bale and shot it out the back. Most of the mechanism was gone before I got it and since throwing bales was not in my operation, I never bothered with it. It has a conventional chute off an IH baler and it works juzt fine for me.

I don't know what the model number was on the thrower, but I had one on a 275 that ran with a V belt off the flywheel. Trouble was,the flywheel was flat. It was OK unless you idled it down too quick, then it would flip the belt.

DID NH buy the 77 pan thrower form JD??? I hear guys talk about them but have only seen the belt type in person.

A Model 70 belt style thrower was offered as shaft drive and hydraulic drive. The hydraulic drive would have used the add-on grooved ring bolted to the flywheel of a 311, 316 or 326 baler.

NH sold two models of pan throwers, the 75 and 77. Both share lots of parts commonality with a Deere thrower, likely the model 30. There were differences though, the NH pan was steel vs. the aluminum pan Deere used. I have no idea if NH bought them from Deere or licensed them. My guess would be a licensing deal of some sort.

The thrower that IH made did not use belts, but rather it used a set of rubber rollers. likely made from old tires. I believe there were 3 on top and 3 on the bottom. Ours was driven by a Briggs engine.
As I had mentioned in another thread, ours was mounted on a New Holland 66 baler. It worked fine, but was really heavy. When unhooking the baler, we needed to block it up in back, rather than under the hitch.

New Holland bale throwers ALL include an offset axle extension to be installed on the chamber side to re-balance the machine after the thrower was installed.

I've wondered about that. That was about the time JD was selling NH made but JD badge and paint skid steers and forage blowers so maybe some kind of product swap.
