Where Can I Find Shares?!

Anyone know where I can find plow shares for this J.I. Case plow??

I have had it for a couple of years, and for some reason, it just plows SOOOO nice! I love it, really do!! But, it is to the point where it doesn't want to go into the ground... Needs new shares... baaaaaad!

So, anyone know where I can get some?? The guys at "North 40 Outfitters" (Big R) think that IF I am able to get some numbers from it, they can get me some from Hershal Adams...

Thoughts? Bryce

Steve Rea in Salem Ohio can supply if you give him the numbers off the back of the share. His Company is Ploworx, Webb site. His ph. number is 330-277-7634. Maybe 12D, 14D or 16D for Blacksmith type share. Depends on 12,14, or 16 inch. bottoms.

Bryce, from what I can see those shares are still a lomng way from needing replacing. All they need if the nose is as the rest of the share is a good sharpening and you do that with heat and hammer and anvil. You should have a forge for that but you could renew the nose with a torch for heat. We would do the noe only about every 2 or 3 times for sharpening the complete share. There is instructions for sharpening in some makes owners manuals. If you were close I could teach you how to do it but Idaho and Ohio are too far apart for that.

They don't look worn out to me--do you have an old blacksmith around? They would use a trip hammer and forge heat to "put some suck" in them, just be careful they don't put too much.

Crescent Forge Dies & Patterns went to Steve Rea at PLOWORX Salem, Ohio & White Horse Machine in PA 2 yrs. ago.

Bryce, I have seen them weld a piece of a truck spring to the share when they are worn. I have never done it but maybe some one on here has and can add some more info. for you

Truck spring actually is too wide to work corectly, car spring is better Quick fix for busted off nose but not as good as replacement nose. And I do not know if they are avaible any ware. I could also take a wore out blacksmith share and rebuild it with a deep suck throwaway share. Would not be hard to do.

I have been keeping my old plow going for years by welding on 4" chunks of old springtooth. I learned this on the internet.

There is an Amish guy in Ohio that forges plow parts for all the old stuff. Send me an email and I will send you his contact info and his catalog.
