Disc scrapers

The plow I purchased has almost all the scrapers pulled away from the discs. Not sure why the old owner did this. Are the scrapers important to run if you are not running in wet sticky clay soil?

"plows" dont have "scrapers'. You must be talking about a disk. The scrapers dont really need to touch the blade.A bit of 'air
gap' is fine. Some of my scrapers have an inch(or more) gap and clean just fine.In fact,I rather have that gap on my disk as
there will be less wear(and noise).Wet tight soil tends to tighten up that gap as it works.

Some implement companies built a disk plow that had scrapers. Notice scrapers encircled in blue

Some soils(sandy) don't require scrapers to contact disk while other soils(clay/gumbo) do require scrapers to contact disk if much moisture is present when plowing is performed
