I have an oliver 1800 and have the option to buy a between an 4-14 ih#16 or an ih#70 3-16 what would be best going to work old hay ground up

SO true..condition means a lot..

If you plan on much Corn ground plowing, I would lean toward the 3x16..

It only lacks about 6" per swipe and has better clearance for trash..

3x16.Old hay plows hard, especially grass. A 16" will give more clearance, less likely to 'plug'. Better to have a bit more tractor than plow than to have more plow than tractor.......

Well established Alfalfa plows Hard....sometimes you can look out over the plowed ground and see 10" to 12" long Roots standing up in the air..!

Add some Waxy ground to that and you "Take The Bridle Off", to get it done...

"Turn it Loose", "Pour the Coal Oil to it", "Lay it's Ears Back"..."Let-er-Snort"...!!!!!!!!
