JD-14T needles

My baler worked well this summer on my hay field. When I went to help a friend on his field, the baler took a large load of wet hay before I could power it down and both needles broke. (no good deed goes unpunished...)
I've been keeping a for look out on ebay and Craigslist needles or another parts baler. My question to the forum is: are there other JD baler needles that might fit my 14T? I'm thinking that the 214, 24, or 224 needles might fit. Thanks for any advice you guys can give me. Russ, in Kansas...

Breaking both needles means your plunger stop isn't working....Fix it NOW before you install new needles. Also check the needle
brake. Could have let the needles creep up into the chamber.Wet hay didn't break your needles, something is 'out of wack'

Well I think your out of luck. The 14T needles are different than the 24T, 224, 336 and others. Those needles will interchange. The 14T will not. I am going by memory here but I think you will need 14T needles. New needles for your 14T from JD are $241 EACH.

Like Delta Red stated fix the plunger stop!!! Then in the future check it every single time you bale.

Do you have the pieces of your needles??? I have brazed them together many times. They usually will last a long time.

We ran a 14T baler for years and never broke a needle, but I know that they can be brazed. We bent the needles a few times; they are made of malleable iron and meant to be bent to the correct curvature in a press. Then they have to be adjusted precisely to the knotters to be sure that they will work as they are supposed to.

According to JDparts.com AM2931T needles for a 214T also fit a 14T

I think I have a pair of good ones in an old 14T I have. The plunger stop did not work one time on it and broke both needles so I got a pair of good used ones then found the knotter frames to be broken so have these needles here and nothing to use them in. I am in Missouri by the way

I'm missing one of the tips. I figured that once I replaced the needles, I would cycle it through by hand, then check the timing according to the manual before I hook up the pto shaft. I figured something else went wrong besides wet hay.

I will be checking it all out. I figured out that something else has to be wrong. It seems that if any of my equipment isn't old, obsolete, or broken down, it's not mine.....

I stopped by the local JD dealer this morning and spent money... Two new needles, shear pins, and a replacement spring for the plunger stop
should be here by Friday afternoon. I'll still check the timing before I power up the system. I already cut hay the other day and will be raking
tomorrow. I keep getting people wanting to buy small bales during the winter and I should be able to cover the costs over a period of time.
Thanks for everyone's input.

I sold a pair 14T needles about a month ago for $100. Guy in Colorado needed them and mailed me a $100 bill and gave me his UPS number. Wish everything worked that easy.
