Montgomery Ward Gear

This summer I picked up an old Montgomery Ward running gear, and I want to clean it up and get it ready to use for next year.

I've seen a few posts on the forum with people looking for information on them. I understand they were made be Electric Wheel, and can be quite old.

It has a tag on it, and I was hoping someone might have an idea where I might be able to find out more about it. It's not a real heavy gear.. It has five lugs on the wheels.

Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks!

Gary, I know of a guy who is well versed in the Electric Wagon history. I will contact him and have him take a look at your post.

Gary, I know of a guy who is well versed in the Electric Wagon history. I will contact him and have him take a look at your post. If you are apart of Facebook, there is a group dedicated to Farm Wagons. It is a pretty neat group that is growing, that discuss and share information about wagons. The guy I spoke of earlier in my response is the one who started the group.

We refurb'd a Montegomery Ward wagon gear into a hay wagon this past spring.

Here us a link to that thread: http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1194483&highlight=ward+montgomery+wagon

Thanks, Farmall. As I said, any help would be appreciated. Do you happen to know the name of the group on Facebook? I did a quick search and wasn't able to find it. I would be interested in looking at it.

Thanks, Bill. I did read that post earlier. This one will be used as a hay wagon, too. Based on the measurements provided in that thread, it looks like this one is a 5 ton. It should be fine for me. I'm just using it for small squares.
