Hi Jim,
Awhile ago I posted a question or 2 about a Gehl skid loader. Well I found a 1999 Gehl 4635sx skid loader with the Deutz 44hp diesel engine with 4632 hours. Don't know any details yet. I found it on a Gehl dealer lot here in SW MN. I thought you mentioned something about staying from the deutz engine? This loader was owned by a tree nursery company I guess. Just wanted your thoughts on this model please. Thank you sir.

Thank you for the comments sir. My biggest concern is longevity of this engine. I realize it depends on maintenance and use of the machine too. Anything else to look for?

Is that Deutz an oil cooled engine? That"s the reason I went to the newer, 40 series.....did not want the winter starting issues, especially since I don"t have livestock anymore. I want a machine that can be plugged in for an hour or so, not overnight, when I need to move snow.

I liked the 35 series heel/toe auxiliary hyd foot pedal better than the 25 or 40 series style. But I just rigged up a different pedal on mine last week, after buying a brush cutter which needs continuous flow.

My 4625 had the Kubota engine- very gutsy compared to the water-cooled Deutz in my 5240e.
