I usually buy the twine at the local coop. The 37 uses the same knotter that the 46 uses. The twine does not break. The twine just wraps around the bill hook. I have had this old baler since 1979 but no longer make many square bales because I cannot find boys to help haul. It never did work as well as some other balers I ran for neighbors. I do have an operators manual but need a repair manual

Does it tie a knot and then tie a second one over it because the first one didn't come off the bill hook. If that is the case then it broke the twine trying to pull off the first knot. I'm thinking I can give you some ideas once I really understand what is happening as I have been through my 46 knotter more than once and spent many hours in the manual. Mine does tie pretty well all things considered.

I cannot tell for sure. At times it will tie with some twine wrapped around the bill hook.
