Vermeer Baler Belt Twist

My 504 Super I manual says that the belts should have a 1/2 twist at the front of the baler -- to allow you to see the bale forming and to minimize or eliminate hay accumulating on the front of the baler.

None of the Vermeer balers I have seen are running the twisted belts. My guess: there is a problem with what sounds like a good theory.

Anyone have any experience running the 1/2 twist? Or know why no one does?

I do on both my 505 super I balers, for the exact reasons you stated. I've never had an ounce of belt trouble. 20,000+ bales on the original belts
and lacing for my older of the two balers.

Yes mine had them when new,,, and it is easier to see,,, the original owner took out the twists and when I replaced my belts I left them out as well,,, I like it better myself without as they seem to wear less without the extra twists,, what I am saying as they will work either way,, operator choice
