Sheared the twine disc gear pin NH 276

An odd one, and first time for me. The pin that holds the twine disc gear on the shaft sheared.
This is the gear that meshes with the worm gear. No mention of the pin in the manual.
Never had this happen before and I had baled about 100 bales today when it happened.
It is relatively easy to replace if I can find the part.
Does anyone know the size of this pin? and, Is it a special material?
Do I need to check for other failure causes before I replace the pin and go back to baling?

NH 276 twine baler.

Thanks

I was surprised to find the parts catalog to be a bit ambiguous in this area, but my GUESS is that it is a "grooved pin" 3/16" X 7/8", FIAT part #80837.

It is better if the pin shears completely instead of just partially shearing, which can throw off the timing and cause other problems with that knotter - and that problem can be hard to find. BTDT.

I have had to replace a couple of those pins on 575s. I just used a roll pin and so far they have held up just fine. The oldest is about 5 years and probably 30000 bales.

If it's the pin I'm thinking you're referring to.... it should just be a standard roll pin. Get a set and find one that matches...

You nailed it. I drove out the pieces. Grooved pin 3/16 x 7/8. Now where to find one?

Hope the local "has everything guy" can fill the order.
