Tractor with belly mower

Got a 2.75 acre wind break that the CRP contract expires on in September, and I am not going to renew it. Will probably need to find something to mow it with as I don't think the rear engine Snapper is up to the task. What tractor belly mower combinations do you guys like? Thanks.

Neighbor has a little deere with a belly mower. She had an open station for a couple of years and next thing you know it had a cab. Don't know if it was the same tractor or a new one. Guessing it was around 45 hp. Had small diameter tires in front, unlike ratios used on larger tractors.

We have both an Allis Chalmers C with a 5ft Artsway and a Cub Farmall with a 4ft Pennington brand mower. The AC plays with the 5ft and the cub works pretty good to handle the 4ft. The cub is easier to see what your doing around trees and such, the Allis cuts a lot of grass fast on areas with no obstructions.

I use an older Faarmall Super A and a 5 foot Woods mower. It will cut grass or weeds that are at least 1 foot high pretty fast. The tractor has ample power for the 5 footer.

Farmall H with a Woods L306.

We had a c Allis with a Woods mower at the first farm coop I worked at. was ok if you didn't let the grass get too high. Some one stole it and they replaced it with an H farmall with a newer Woods mower. It was a lot better outfit to mow with. I have a B Allis with a Woods mower at home that I got when dad died. I would prefer to have the mower on a larger tractor such as a D14 or as stated H farmall.

I use an Allis Chalmers C with a 6 foot Woods mower deck. Ive been using it to mow around 3 acres of grass every week for over 30 years now, and never had a problem with it. It handles the deck very well. However mowing is all it does as it is a bit of trouble to take the belly mower off to use the tractor for anything else. So mowing is pretty much all it is useful for, at least for me , it is easier to have another tractor to do other task with.

The Farmall H has more than enough power, but you still cannot let the grass get too tall. The drive belt will slip and squeal if you do.

I am not sure where you are located, but my brother has a 51' WD with a 6' JD belly mower for sale in Southern Minnesota. It is for sale in the Minnesota section of YT ads. Contact me if you would like. Kow Farmer Kurt
