I have a ground driven Allis Charmers hay rake, I think model 78g. I am trying to find the belt number. I can't seem to find it on agcoparts.com
Any help would be appreciated.

Check with local industrial belt and bearing distributor. They often have better belts for less money than buying factory replacement belts.

If it is a regular v belt You can get them any place they sell belts. If you don,t have the old belt take a string or twine and go around the pulleys to get one.

According to my parts book, the belt PN is 547286. Belt cost $75 several years ago when I bought one for my 78.

I believe a 77G rake has a straight axle while 78 (no G in name) has two differentials to put a "jog" in the axle.

IF its a V Belt, you can get one at a NAPA store. I buy belts for my belly mower from them, and there 1/2 X 142in long.

If your rake is a clone of the old ezee-flo or New Idea ground drive rake with a round belt, you can easily find a new belt on ebay or at a New Idea dealer. They cost about $100. Putting the belt on is a several hour job (old bolts and lots of jacking and prying)and I suggest you get a manual because that makes it much easier and...you do not want to put it on backwards. A new belt will last 20 years. I would not cut corners to save a few bucks on the belt, then break down with hay on the ground and go thru that much work again.
