NH 717 Chute Control

I have a couple NH 717 choppers with different heads, but all have manual chute controls. Tried searching for the parts needed or pictures to convert them to hydraulic controls, but am not having any luck.

Does anyone here have some pictures, part numbers, ideas, etc. to help me out. It's greatly appreciated.

Call Countryside Equipment at 607-243-5555 Monday through Saturday. They parts out NH and Deere choppers so he might have something laying around you could use.

Here"s one I made for my Gehl CB600. I left original parts there so it could be converted back to the hand crank system. I had 3 SCV"s on 3 tractors I could use to chop with, so besides the header left, I also put a cyl on the hitch to adjust road/field width.

The hyd hitch is slicker than snot! Great for following a windrow or corn row when going around corners. Always hooked that cyl to the tall, far right lever on the JDs, made for easy corrections just going down a corn row.

I don't recall anything from NH until later choppers started coming out, and have seen a few retrofits and on farm jury rigs that worked fine. You might want to try Fry's in Pa., 570-546-3968, or Abilene Machine. They may have a kit or two to do what you're asking.

I used to use a power window opener from a car for the 'flapper'.Worked great and was pretty easy to set up.And CHEAP!Never had anything but the crank for the spout 'rotator'. I agree on the swing cylinder on the tounge.Handy!

I do have a hydraulic motor on one (was bought that way) with a third over flow hose back to the rear of the tractor. However, the IH 986 keeps blowing the seals out of it immediately once you try to make it move. I do not see any flow reducer controls on the remotes either?

They make flow reducer business that you can stick in the lines. There are different size orifices to control your speed, you just have to find one that works. Dad grabbed the wrong package at the store when getting a fitting and picked up one for the loader, put the reducer on one side and it ended up snapping the cylinder rod off at the clevis because one cylinder worked faster than the other.
