Big bad plow

This thing is what probably helped the dust bowl along! It was built to use behind a steam tractor. The plot they plow is to small to turn around on for this and a steam tractor. They did have 6 or 8 steam tractor there that appeared to all run. To pull it a little faster and with style, they used a 1939 AC L crawler. This thing was huge. It didn't have any problem pulling this plow! One lever is hooked to 2 bottoms. There is a big spring on each lever that can be adjusted with a bell crank. Even though the levers are long, there is a lot of weight hanging off them. When it comes time to turn around, the guy on the platform gets a work out. You would want to be good friends with the driver and hope he doesn't like WOT all the time. Enjoy.

Thanks, I recall seeing one of those in action at a steam show when I was a little kid. It left an impression, as 8 bottom was not common back then on modern tractors!

Never saw one since.

I saw a twelve bottom at a show, one guy just walked it across the field and the next engine started spinning and they could not trip the plows quick enough, the big boy had to pull it out.

Antique power a few years ago had an article about a demonstration meet in Canada, years ago, where they showed plows with half again as many bottoms, and four of them hooked together behind two steamers.
