IH 2400 baler lower belt

The bottom belt has made its last bale and given up the ghost. This one was a plane flat 3 ply belt. One place that makes belts says their book shows that the belt should be one with "V" guides on each edge. I'm not able to find any pictures that show that kind of belt on one of these. The pic in the manual shows a plain flat belt. Perhaps the V guided belt is an upgrade? Looking for anyone else still operating one of these.

It has been about 20 years since I have operated 2 different 2400's. Both of them had flat belts. Had one of them completely relaced with new clips at the vermeer plant in Pella, Ia. Don't know if they still carry belting for bottom belt balers or not. Older vermeer balers also had those bottom wide belts.

So did the Gehls. They used to put a Dutchmen's splice in those. They'd cut about six inches off each end, then take a foot of good belt and lace all four ends so there were two splices in them.

Mine has the flat belt, of which i am sure is original.

I believe that i will need to replace all the belts next year , as it does not roll dry grass easily anymore - belts are bald!!
