john deere #9 sickle bar mower

looking for a part for my sickle bar mower, this part may not be exclusive to the john deere sickle bar mower, there is an
adjustment bolt that allows me to point the blades a bit down or a bit up, the adjustment has teeth or ridges that when tightened
the bolt locks into these ridges, not sure what to call it, is this a common item or must this be purchased from a bone yard?

also, what are the thoughts on this mower? sure looks like a quality piece of equipment.

thanks dave

I think I know the part you are talking about, used on #9 and I believe same part on #8 mowers. Not sure about other models. I think the #9 was a pretty good mower and easy to hook up to tractor. There was also a 9W that was made for bigger row crop tractors so you didn't have to move your tires in. I used an 8w for years and it worked well. There should be quite a few of these in salvage yards, otherwise it probably wouldn't be too hard to fabricate.

DEERE calls the part a "serrated washer", and I am surprises to see it is NLA from DEERE, as so many parts ARE still available for these good old mowers.

Parts Depot shows 1 Z1348H NOS in stock, they will not sell direct to you but most dealers are set up to order from them.

HTH!

I too have a #9. They work pretty good till you lend it to a friend and well after that it does not work well LOL. I need the pitman part that clamps on the sickle bar since my friend hit a stump with the pitman and broke it and lost that part.
It does seem to be a bit of a pain to put on a machine

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]Bob[/b:654c4848f0] on the name and part number for your No. 9 mower.

Take a look at the diagram below.

Note the serrated washers (Key 45A) and (Key 45B).

The serrated washer (Key 45A) H 10266 H (sub. for Z 1348 H) is for No. 9 mowers serial numbers up to 51000.

The serrated washer (Key 45B) H 11453 H is for No. 9 mowers serial numbers 51001 and up.

In addition, the serrated washer (Key 45B) H 11453 H is for all No. 37, 38, 39, and
39N John Deere sickle mowers.

Hope this helps.

serial number 13134, sure it is serrated washer (Key 45A) H 10266 H, thanks for the good info for my search, any idea who would carry this item?

thanks
dave

Vid, I am reasonably sure all three part numbers for the serrated washer that James posted are interchangeable because the part the serrations on the washer mate with (Key # 35) never changed over the course of production.

As I posted before, there is supposed to be ONE #Z1348H in stock at Parts depot, and any DEERE dealer that is set up with them can get it for you.

Better check the price before ordering to avoid and possible "sticker shock". (I do NOT know what the price is).

If you don't know of a participating dealer near you, call Depot @ 1-800-743-3768 and they can tell you where your nearest dealer is.

As [b:654c4848f0]Bob[/b:654c4848f0] mentioned below in his reply, you might consider contacting Parts Depot and asking for their nearest retailer in your community area.

great thanks, it looks like on the deere sickle mower #8 there is a t-shaped hand tightener to tighten it down, is there one on the #9 or is it just a bolt?

thanks dave

I've had several 8's, but never a 9. Parts catalog seems to show the differences you mention, but the parts the bolt or bolt and nut attach to are the same you you could set yours up either way.
