Deutz Baler Knotter Woes

Hi all,

I'm hoping some of the experts here can help me out. We have a Deutz 380 HD square baler I bought a few years ago. Some people warned me against such a rash purchase, but it was in good shape for a really good price, and has served us exceptionally well for the last few years. This year about 150 bales in the right-side knotter came broke, causing a few other issues. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about parts for these balers. Some guy at the auction I bought it at told me it was the same knotter as an International. I questioned this strongly, but having never been around an IH baler I wouldn't know.

I'm looking for any advice as to where I might find parts for this beast, particularly in the Central Ontario area. If anyone has any ideas what might have caused the cam to break I'd also appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Parts can be tough to find for that baler. They where more popular in Europe. Your lucky in that with the Internet you an find parts easier now. The knotters are NOT the same as IH. They kind of work the same but they are not interchangeable. They are harder to work on than the JD and NH knotters. They are harder to get set to where they will tie correctly.

I have a Haybob tedder/rake, rare in the USA but common in europe.

Also own a Rice horse trailer, made in England, no parts in the USA.

I found parts for both on the internet, in England. Good price, had them shipped here.

It was as easy as buying on the internet in the USA. Paypal is a help but any credit card should work.
