Used Vermeer 504 price

I have been looking at a 1987 Vermeer
504 baler on the website of a dealer
near where I live. Pictures look like
it is in very good condition. They are
asking $9500. That seems like a lot for
a 30 year old baler. Any thoughts?

Where are you located at. Mine needs a little work ,but could be for sale.1980 model but has only had 1200 bales through it.

That sound way high to me. Maybe 504's are in short supply. I gave 7000 for a 504I five years ago. Don't know if the one you are looking at is newer or older.

Is it a Silage special, super I or just an I . $7,000 to 5,000 here in Va. Early ones had 1 1/4 shafts and bearings, not the best. Later ones all had 1 1/2 . Remember its a dealer and that's probably a trade in price . If you are buying straight out no financing you don't need to pay retail.

The four foot balers are selling well but I still would say a Vermeer 504 would not bring half that asking price around here.

I paid 27100 for a new 504n with net and twine from the dealer at Hammond. Bought it outright last year but he called this spring and bought my 2001 554xl twine only, that had 5200 bales through it. It needed new teeth and abit of other work. I'm guessing he got about 9000 to 9500 for it. Paid me 8250 for it. this doesn't really answer your question but gives you some compariables.

For a comparison I just bought a New Holland 847 makes a similar size bale in great condition very little use on it for $1100 at an auction. A lot of people don't like NH chain balers and that suits me fine I love them.

where are you casenut1? Didn't they change the design on Vermeer balers of the throat design to keep them from plugging up? Closed chamber versus open chamber? Ive always heard hay has to be completely dry to run through a Vermeer or they will plug up.
