30 kicker on JD 336 baler problem

Kicker is not kicking bales into wagon. Even with valve set on 8 it barely shoots bale toward wagon. Kicker worked fine last summer and this was the first outing this year. It was low in hydraulic oil and I filled it up. I'm thinking may be the pump. Anyone had this problem?

Does that drive off the baler flywheel?....loose/slipping belt?

JMS is right, check the belts first. Also check the shear bolt in the flywheel. Pumps don't fail from one season to the next. Baler needs to be up to pto speed (540 rpm).

Yes the pump runs off the flywheel. I'll check the belts to see if they are tight. Shear pin ok.

Do you have an operaters manual? Every few years the control valve needs to be taken apart and one pump of grease applied inside.Years ago when we made lots of small squares we would take our baler every two years to the dealer for him to go over and he talked about doing this to the valve. Right now I can not find my manual. Tom

if the flywheel shear bolt breaks, the pump won't run right, but maybe the flywheel is turning due to friction or rust. Assuming the tank has full fluid in it.
