hi guys I got a problem , the wobble shaft on my balanced head mower is bad its not trashed but I cant keep the flywheel tight , I can see the keyway is bad and the shaft is wore some , here is my question can this shaft be built up and can the keyway be recut I imagine i'll have to get another pully but can the shaft be saved , thanks guys

It all comes down to price. Can the shaft be built up with weld? That's the route I'd be going, and I'd probably consider boring the pulley over size and either sleeve it, or build the shaft up a little extra if possible and make them fit tight again. Also would want to measure things up first to see just how badly worn it is. It's possible if it's not too bad some Loc-tite bearing retaining compound would do the trick. I'd probably use it after fixing any way.

My 120 kept doing that and I tightened the nut and drilled a hole and put a cotter pin tight against the nut. That was last year. I've mowed about 30 acres this year and all is well.

i took my pulley off and took a center punch to it made a bunch of little dinks in the shaft tightened it up and it got me done last year bout 150 acres and then took it apart after hayin had a new shaft made and pulley bored out then sleved the pulley to then shaft cut alot of hay this year didnt give me any trouble machining bill was atound $150.
