These balers have a bearing on the drive roller. its got a grease fitting on it. It has a cast iron round flange. Dealer says $311.00 . Does any one know where to get an aftermarket one ? The shaft is 1 1/2 in. Thanks

What is the number on the bearing? You can buy the bearings separate and install in the old housing, if the housing isn't damaged.

That bearing is a 2 part bearing. You can replace the inner part or the whole component. Made by Link Belt and said to be no longer avail, however I have found it on a number of sites. Whole bearing including flange is around $250. Inside part is anywhere from $95 for NOS on ebay to $160 for it on Amazon. Check around. Get the part number from your owners manual...

Can't answer that ... I had the bearing locking collar come loose this week and the bar slid over causing a gap that allowed grass to clog. Thought I was going to have to replace the bearing so did some research on current costs and sources. Ended up moving the bar over and remounting the locking collar and it has held up. Thinking of buying one of the inside bearing parts to have as a spare.

If you clean and examine the flange, you should be able to see if it is still in good repair.

Really becoming a fan of these older Vermeer balers. There has been nothing that I have not been able to repair in short order. I had a gearbox go out yesterday, lost a bearing. In a 45 minute timeframe, had the gearbox out of the parts baler and in the main baler and back to making hay. Buying that parts baler has proven to be the best $800 bucks I have ever spent on an insurance plan...
