14 inch wagon tires

Some of my old wagons have 14 inch wheels. The old high profile 14" tires work very well, but 14" is no longer a popular size, so finding used tires for these old wagons is about impossible.

I considered switching to larger wheels but new wheels cost about $60 each, plus a tire.

So I might as well bite the bullet and buy new 14" tires. Has any one found a cheap source for 14" tires that
will last several years as hay load wagon tires, low speed, never on the highway. Need 215-75-14 or larger.

I dont know why everyone says that 14 are so hard to find? I find all I want on the 'M&I' pile at our local Big O tire store.Best of all,they're FREE!

If good wagons, bite the bullet and buy new implement tires. I bought two 11L-14 last year, about $90 each. Should last many years, and are made to haul heavy loads. Otherwise, see if an auto tire place will take your name and number. When they get a decent used set in, perhaps they'll sell them to you for a few $$. I usually pay $10-$20 for used, else I just go new.

Most of those older farm wagons used a more or less standard 5 bolt pattern. Older Ford and Dodge pickup trucks used that same 5 bolt pattern and will fit the wagon hubs. Those truck rims were mostly all 16", with a few 15" thrown in for good measure. Used 16" tires are just about everywhere. Don't need much tread on them when used on a wagon.

I needed some 14" for my manure spreader. went to my local tire shop, got 4 from a trailer, large rental outfits, he had changed out. If you are near a major highway try checking with your area tire shops.

Some recreational vehicle lots sell tires for their trailers. I had one with 14"

Might be worth checking with them as most rv trailers come with 6 ply tires.

Odd how standard size tires have changed over the years:
Most old cars pickups had 16" tires, then 15", changed to 14", now 16, 17, 18, or even 20.
Times they be a changing!!!

you can use 14.5 mobile home tires. most are 8 or 10 ply, just be sure to center them on rim, and use a tube.

Please do not put 14.5 tires on your 14" rims. The bead is totally different. Most tire shops that deal in farm tires can fix you up with what you need

I'll second the motion, don't use 14.5 tires on 14 rims.... I recently came into this problem myself because of a wagon I picked up this year. It's for 14" rims all around. One tire needs to be replaced, was just planning on replacing it with a new trailer or implement tire, depending on which one is cheaper. A tire will last a long time on a hay wagon, so I'm not gonna sweat it. Would rather have sound tires under it in case I use it to haul a load ant kind of a distance.

Took your advice...went to 7 tires stores today looking for used 14" tires, 6 had zero. Seventh store had 1 tire, cost $25 mounted, with my time and gas included a new tire for $70 would have been a lot cheaper.

If you can find them(Toyota 1 ton trucks) 27.8.50-14 they are 6ply,I ran them as snow tires on the PU.

they are kind of hard to find around west ky,
there are so many tobacco wagons and many were made years ago by taking the front spindles off cars and trucks, welding a pipe across as an axle.

so farmers are always looking for 14" tires, most have just bit the bullet and buy new 14" for them or change wheels, if possible.

I changed out the 14" 6 ply tires on my camper trailer, took two for an old farm trailer and the other two, (one was bad, but still holding air) friend took them for an old farm scraper that used 14" tires.

always be on the look out for good used 14" tires, someone will need them!!!!!!!

My hay wagon needed new tires and they were 14 inch. After looking around, I settled for general purpose utility trailer tires. Mine crossed over to ST205/75D 14 6PR. These are bias ply tires, 6 ply, tubeless and are made by Hi-Run. So far, so good.
