What's the value of JD 953 running gear parts

I recently bought a John Deere 953 running gear that I intended to refurbish but I think I will part it out instead. It's been sitting for years, is covered with surface rust and to take it apart to blast and paint will take an acetylene torch which I don't have. It's just going to be more work than I want to invest and I don't want to put more money into it as I paid too much for it (my foolish mistake). Is there value in the 953 hubs and bolsters? The tongue has no value as it's an extendable, very heavy tongue that won't extend due to rust.

Where are you at and for that mater how much did you pay that you thing is too much. That gear as pictured is a $400 gear here.

Don't give up on the old 953. The gear has allot of good points
like the reach isn't bent nor are the spindles. I started with one that looked
worse than yours and it turned out pretty good. The extendable tongue
can be loosened with patience , penetrating oil and heat.
Once you see your 953 with a new coat of paint you will be justifiably proud
of your accomplishment. I hope you will decide to spare the life of the 953
as it has worked hard over the years. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Then I guess I need to head to Ohio with mine. I have a 953, painted, with a 16' flat rack, stored inside, for sale. Can't even get any bites!

Around hear in SW Ohio a JD 953 gear with a good hay bed will bring $800 to $1200 at a sale no problem, Right now maybe more cause little hay has been put up and when it dry's up everybody is going to go full bore and will want every wagon they can get there hands on. Bandit

That's what I was hoping for here. I've advertised the last few weeks, but no bites. The weather here is record terrible this year. Hay, if you can call it that, standing everywhere.

I have 3 JD gears which I put metal hay racks on. They are the best trailing and strongest out there for the money. Only thing that ever went wrong with mine is a person backing up wrong and bending the tongue.

If the tongue has "no value", you can drop it off at my house. Seriously, that is a keeper, most everything is nice and straight.

Ive got a 963(i think) with a bent front spindle. Had a hoist and flatbed and I put too many big squares on it and tried to dump. Not sure what im going to do with it now.

I have a 953 wagon that is beyond repair but the spindles and hubs are very good. I would be willing to part them out let me know, they are the hubs with the JD castings. Thanks Gordy 612-986-6151

I'm in need of a 953 bolster and if you are still willing to part your wagon out please give me a call. (706) 202 6910
