Hyd tie or electric tie on round baler

Same here. First two were hydraulic, last two have been electric/computerized. I just have to sit and wait for it to complete the process.

Never had the hyd tie but have one NH850 with electric tie and one that is hand tie and I like them both.

Hydraulic tie works, but takes some practice. Since I only do a few bales a year
...I am always re-learning it. Just about the time I get good...hay season is over.

I don't remember what I had on a Hesston 5580 I think was the number......made 5x6 bales, 4" wide belts, had two tie arms that crossed in the center then moved out to the opposite sides. If it was motor driven then I have had 1 of those and 2 hydraulic, one automatic and one manual. Of the three I'll take the manual on my current JD 375. Being manual I tell it what I want it to do and it does it. I like that a lot better than automatic tying systems especially on the worn out stuff I can afford to buy.

I got this Vermeer baler and its got electric, so you bump the toggle switch to move it across. You can put as much or as little as you want. I have a chance to switch it to hydraulic, just wondering if I should. Its always a pain to hook up the wires , especially if changing tractors.

That is how mine is on my NH850. I has 2 battery clamps like what you have on a battery charger so it is easy to hook up and unhook.

I have a NH 644 and have had it since new. I did have a NI 484 with an electric tie, and it was as slow as molasses in January. The NH has an auto tie, twin arm setup that will tie in less than thirty seconds and eject the bale. That's fast.....

Electric works fine, contained in same wire your other monitor stuff is in, don't need "extra" remote to run it.

I like electric. Have you used the baler yet? I'd at least try it like it is before you change it. You might like it the way it is

Hi guys thought I would comment , I have a Case 8420 with the hydraulic tie , works great for me , once you adjust the proportioning valve to put the amount of twine you want, your good to go !

I've always been partial to New Holland's auto wrap. I've had them with hydraulic tie, manual tie, and several auto wrap balers.... Then I got bale command electric on my 644 (net or twine). Love it way beyond any of the others, to the point I dont want anything else. New baler on agenda for this fall and bale command is a must.

For those of us with open centre hydraulics, I dislike hearing the engine pull down and the relief valve screaming while the twine arm moves agonizingly slow across the bale.
