Looking for a tedder. 2 basket. any brands to stay away from? i'm looking at a Daos? made in italy. But haven't found any info on them as dealer was closed. small acres operation but don't want to go to cheap and end up always broken and broke. Thanks

Why two basket? Consider an old four basket Kuhn. Something like a GFST440. Kuhn was for many years the gold standard of tedders. They built not only their own label but for other manufactures as well. Mine is probably thirty years old, I paid $250.00 for it about twenty years ago, and have done little other than replace times and tires.and wheels. They are indestructible. Well maybe except for the time my wife tried to tedd a big stump that had some hay tossed on it from the first pass.

I'm with James - I have a four basket Deutz Fahr. It does a decent job of tedding, but is way too spindly, parts are expensive, and it's impossible to pull in road gear. I have to haul it with a three point hitch boom pole.
I've used my friends Kuhn, and it great

I have to agree with the other guys. I have a old Fahr, the gearbox is built like a brick outhouse. but the wheels and axles are just not stout enough.

I have an oddity...a Haybob. Common in Europe ..rare and cheap in the USA.
2 basket, 3 point (but very easy to hook-up)
I have run mine for 12 years, hundreds of acres of hay without a single repair
except tines.(I probably just jinxed myself)

Just remembered... I did put on a new tire about 5 years ago.

Twin horizontal baskets. Often called a rake/tedder

Most made by PZ zweezwes but sold under many brands
mine is a Hesston.

It will also rake but I only use mine to tedd.

There is a video on Youtube. called "How a Haybob works"
I found mine on Craigslist.

In my opinion, all of the Italian made 2-rotors are about the same and should work for you. Tonutti, DaRos, Galfre, Morra, Sitrex are some of the more common ones. Many brands like Ranch-Rite, Befco, Bush Hog, Rhino, AGCO/Hesston/Massey Ferguson etc. are sourced from one of these companies. Kuhn, Krone, Claas and Vicon are northern European makes and are built a little heavier and therefore cost more. If you want a really heavily built two rotor, then there's the Pequea and Esch Hay Equipment tedders built in Pennsylvania.

Agri Supply Co. also sells an Italian made 2 basket under the name Morra. Great service. Bought the unit about 15 years ago and other than some tynes I broke backing up forgetting to lift the 3 pt and a drain plug just this month, I had no repairs. I did change the basket angles to more parallel with the ground but that was user preference, not design/materials defect.
