Hay hay hay

Reese drum mower, 55 year old MF 50 with a $400 New Idea belt rake, 276 NH baler and a 20 ft wagon.
Horses seem to like the hay..mostly Orchard and timothy with a little blue and fescue..at least they don't say much.

THATS OLD FASHIONED? I can go with my 1934 CC Case tractor, my steel wheel 4 bar JD rake, my NI loose hay loader, and steel wheel rack

OR my 1948 H Farmall, said rake and rack, and my 1950s 140 W Case bailer

Local Amish have 2 horse team on mower, 2 horse on rake and 4 horse pulling diesel engine sulky with old JD 14T- or 4 horse hitch on a baler with it's own engine. These are the 'advanced technology' Amish, couple still put up loose hay. 'Horse hay' meaning is it was done with real 'horse power' instead of 'tractor power'. Was a horse boarding and training outfit that excersized most of horses by using the old mowers and dump rakes, horse pulled wagons- owners came out on weekends to provide some extra labor and ride the horses or buggy rides, horses were well behaved and healthy compared to some others that lazed around most of week in a paddock. Amish trainers for the horses and some equipment was small for ponies- Welsh and Irish farm equipment designs pre WW1 to 1950s patterns. 4 Shetland pony hitch with alternate single Clydesdale hitch with tongue change for a mower was one featured rig. I learned as a boy to mow and dump rake with team of Belgiums- then father got a H and mower. RN

Kinda like my haying used to be with a one man crew. I can't get on the wagon without a step ladder and can't lift a bale more than one bale high anymore so I drop them on the ground and pick them up with a loader.
