I am looking at a McCormick model 250 corn planter. The ad says it is a "hill drop" planter. Can it be switched a "drill" type planter like the John Deere with a mechanical adjustment?
Is a model 450 simply a 4-row 250?

Thanks
Mike

Yes it can be switched to drill plant, I was out planting with mine tonight, and yes I believe 450 is a 4 row version of the 250.....hill dropping was used a lot with check row planting corn...is the check row equipment still on planter?

Thanks for the reply. I have not physically seen the planter-only a couple pictures on Craigslist. Price was for $350. I don't know if that's firm but it is a lot cheaper than the JD's I have seen. There are no markers on it.

Is it the clutch lift version or hydrolick lift version? Clutch lift versions of 4 row are worth big money, Drill version is 449 or 449A.
