Hesston pt7 changing the drive belt

Does anyone have any experience changing a Hesston pt7 mower/conditioner drive belt? I have the owners manual but it says nothing about changing the belt, only adjusting it. It appears that the only way to get the belt over the sheave is to take the pitman arm assembly completely apart, disturbing all the adjustments in the process. Which I would like to avoid if possible as it runs well right now. I have a service manual coming but it won't be here till late next week. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help.

i have a pt-10 and i saw other pt-10 they had changed the set up on for the belt. on mine and its a early one, you had to remove the pitman arm and also there is a idle pully on mine that you take off then put the belt and pully together and bolt back on. it farly stright forwad but is somewhat a pain. hope this helps also since you pull the pitman arm good time to check that bearing as thats has been replaced twice on mine over the years.

Mine just got changed a couple days ago. It's a new machine to me so I've not done it before. My buddy did it when I was gone so I don't know
what was entailed. I will try and call him today but he went fishing so if he answers I will be surprised. I do know my local kubota dealer had it
in stock as he helps keep a lot of this Los stuff running. Bad news is it was $147 with the tax. I'm sure I could have found one cheaper but gotta
cut hay and can't wait.

Thanks you guys for taking the time to reply. I guess there is no easy solution. I'll just try to take apart as little as possible.

How did it go with changing the belt? I have to do mine, but cant figure out how to get the bearing off the sheeve! Can you help?

Isn't that a off centered bearing collar? I can't quite tell on the photo. If it is turn that collar to loosen up the bearing and it should slide off the shaft. If you look straight on to the center of the shaft, you should be able to tell which way to turn the collar to loosen it.

I got the belt changed, took a turn around the field to make sure everything was ok and found I had a bad reel bearing on the right side. In the process of fixing that I've learned a lot about gib keys and how to remove them. And the great hassle that can be. Now all I need is good weather.
As to the problem in the picture, I'm pretty sure that is a locking collar that twists tight. It is held in place by a set screw. Loosen it with an allen wrench. You may need to tap it with a hammer and it should come off. I don't recall any problem at this point so I think the bearing just slid off, and then you can work the belt around and onto the sheave. As everyone says, if you don't have a book, you should get one, it will show where all the grease fittings are, and some are hard to find. Good luck.
