My 535 baler had trouble starting bales so I took your advice last year and welded some beads on the metal starter roll. Now the net wrap started wrapping up on the starter roll and john deere's suggestion is to grind the weld off. I'm afraid it may have trouble starting the bale again, but getting out every four or five bales to cut the net off the roll and unroll the bale is tiring as well. Also the baler sometimes starts to open by itself while baling! I make sure to close it completely and don't leave the remote on float or anything. Is there a such thing as a check valve that could be installed to keep it from opening? I have tried both remotes on my 1086 and one seems slightly worse than the other, however I don't have Hyd problems with any other implement I use on it. Could it have anuthjng to do with the tension valve up in the front of the baler? Sometimes the gauge acts a little screwy. I plan on bringing it in the shop and doing a little more investigating and grinding any burrs off the welds and also making sure the gate latches are properly adjusted.
