Massey Ferguson 12 Baler

The farmer I worked for as a kid bought one new around 1964. It seemed to always work well. It came out of time once and I was assigned to fix it, but it wasn't tough because the instructions were on the underside of the cover in paint.

(quoted from post at 12:16:16 06/15/15) Looking at a MF 12 baler never been around one are they any good? Good and bad points.

#12 was a fine baler. Lots of them still in use around here and they still bring good money at auctions here.

We've got one and parts are still easy to get for them. I just replaced a few bushings and rollers in the knotters this year, should help a lot with the bad knots that it's been throwing out. Also rebushed the flywheel so it should dip breaking shear bolts. Both repairs were easy to do. Replaced all the chains on it and as had been said, very easy to time.

Saved a #10 from the scrappers, gave $200 for it. Neighbor was cleaning out a shed and said it had to go. Spent around a $100 on it, used for 2 years then replaced pto with THD Wisconsin electric start and pull it with H,300u or B john deer.
Don't think I would ever go back to pto powered.
Have been using it for 7 years with with very few problems (misses a knot maybe every 5 to 600 bales. The #10 is almost the same as a #12.

#12 is a darn good baler. In places where there was a good Massey dealer there were lots of them sold.
All my neighbors had them, no NH balers where I grew up.
Parts are still available.
