Round baler with 9000 to 12000 bales

30 yr old Vermeer, one owner, he bought it new. Said they made between 300 to 400 bales per year. Kept it inside when not in use. So it made not more than 12,000 bales. I am thinking this is a baler with a low amount of use. Whats your opinion?

Check over mechanicals like chains bearings etc. I have a NH round baler with 22K bales through it. Looks better mechanically than many with 10K bales...

All you can do is inspect it closely and flip a coin. 12k bales is not a whole pile but it's not nothing either... It's more than enough use to wear out chains, sprockets, belts, pickups, etc particularly if it's not been well maintained... and believe me... just because it was stored inside DOES NOT MEAN IT WAS MAINTAINED. There's lots of people out there who think maintenance is parking it in the shed at night... and it's never seen an oil can or a grease gun.

We wouldn't even consider keeping a round baler long enough to have done 10000 bales and our balers are treated very lovingly. We always want to be able to hook up and go to the field without worry. Some like the inevitable tinkering that comes with the territory of a high use baler. We let someone else have that pleasure. Time is money!
