Thinking of buying a V Rake. Will be pulling it behind a JD 70 so a hydraulic drive is not going to work for me. Are there PTO drive, or am I limited to ground driven Wheel Rakes (Sitrex, et.)
Any input is welcome.

My Hesston needs two remotes. They make some three point ones but I doubt I would like those. Working the size of the V is what makes your baling more efficient and easier. The three point ones look like they are fixed.

V-rakes you either love em or hate em.. I love mine.. have had it for better than 10 years now. Im small potatoes though. I only cut about 50 acres hay a year. Mine is older version of sitrex.. has one hyd which lowers/lifts both sides at same time. I can rake one side by taking off the wheels on one side or other.. works well... Ive revised mine a tad where I can rake two baling rows at once instead of one large row. Dpending on the hay im raking depends on how I rake (one row or two) If your using a 70.. with one hyd ports then mine would work for you. I have a 10 wheel and rake generally two 9 foot swaths into one or like I said two rows for square baling.. They DO NOT work real well in small confined fields.. they work best by moving fast in long rows.. But I do use mine in a small field its just a pain.. Good luck.. by no means would I buy a three point one unless you have FLAT ground.. even then sketchy.

I like my 14 wheel H&S Hi-Cap rake that I bought in '02. There's no telling how acres it's raked. I'll guess 30,000+ acres in 12 yrs. It's raked fields as small as 3 acres.

There are different holes to set them in. You have to pull the pins to fold them for transport anyway. You just set them in the holes where you want them when you unfold them.

I have a 789 Allen hydraulic rake, it's a twin hydraulically driven basket rake. I run that with a JD 630 with no issues, actually runs it better than my 4010 did.

I have a 12 wheel Kuhn 'carted' rake. and it's quick. The carted style are cheaper, do a good job- especially after you learn how to use them- and are raised and lowered by a single remote. The bigger v rakes have a large expanding frame and take a couple of cylinders, but also have a higher material capacity. They are also pricier. Any of the wheel rakes are ground driven, and hardly seem to move as you rake, but do a great job and will operate as fast as you want to move, unlike a PTO or hydraulically driven machine,
