Mfgr. Service after the Sale

Prbably about 15 years ago I bought a 2 basket Morra Tedder from ASC. The other day I found that the drain plug fell out of the central gear box which is oil filled; how, I don't know but it did. Tried to find a plug to fit and really was having problems as NPT pipe didn't fit and Metric pipe threads or the British threads were confusing and no one had a Metric plug anyway.

So, I get on the wonderful www and plugged in Morra. Found the US office of the company and an email address. Shot off an email yesterday (yesterday was Saturday no less) and before the day was out I received a real nice reply from a company rep. He said that they could find a plug for me. I did say that I was a little guy and he said that didn't matter. I was a customer and would get treated like any other. Said I'd hear from him on monday.

Not bad. I't put that kind of customer service against anyones.

Several years ago I bought a John Deere lawnmower from Lowes. The local John Deere dealership called and said that I was going to get free oil and filter change along with a free blade sharpening and Dec. 3 they would be out. They didn't show and when I called they gave me this story about I had bought they mower a day after the sale which was a total lie. Haven't bought a Deere product from them since.

Got an email from Agri Supply this AM. Then got a phone call. The $2.50 plug is ordered and on it's way here. I told the kind gent at ASC that I was a morning internet coffee shop subscriber to this site and his company (ASC) got a well deserved attaboy. Been buying stuff from them for lotta years. They take care of their customers. This isn't the first time they fixed a problem for me.

Most dealers that I know don't want to deal with a machine from Lowes or Home Depot. Its a different breed of machine, it is designed to compete with the MTD's of the world, not with a true John Deere riding mower. Did you contact Lowes and discuss the problem?

I bought a L 110 hydrostatic from one or the other big box stores over 15 years ago. Under the seat was a service sticker that said to
consult the local green dealer who was named and addressed for problems. One day I was in the green store on a farm chore and
asked about the similarity. Same machine! Said that green only lets them retail them if they hold the retail price green stores
charge.......right from the horses mouth! Guy said they are the authorized service agent. So much for that!

The L110 is the key here. It is made to compete with the MTD's. The L110 is about as close to a real John Deere as a Cub Cadet is to John Deere. Night and day difference from the 325, 335, 345 & 355 from 15 years ago!

Well it's still going strong. I know it's not a 4440, but it's not intended to be. Does what it's designed to do well sorta. Since it's my
oldest, I use it for my Gator. Took the deck off and put some ATV tires on the rear, a wire basket from the bottom of a freezer on the
hood to hold things, and a 4 gallon back pack sprayer on the rear for spraying fire ants. Works great. Never had it to a dealer and as I
recall may have never evenchanged the spark plug nor a drive belt. Gets an oil/filter change annually. Speaking of spark plug, I may
be needing one as I catch it missing a hit every now and then. Think I'll do that today as rain is in the forecast again, this time from a
tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico. Sure could have used one of those during our drought, but now after 20+" in May, no
thanks.
