Been working on an old Ford 930a finish mower and one of the problems I’m having is removing the big pulley’s under the gearbox. The gearbox seal is leaking and needs replacing. Instructions say, Place gearbox and stand assembly on suitable work area and remove the six bolts that attach the pulleys to the hub. Remove socket head cap screw attaching pulley hub to gear shaft. Remove woodruff key on 60” & 72” mowers. Remove hub and pulley from gear shaft. Remove gearbox from gearbox bracket.
Ok, so I took the gearbox with platform off and put it on a table. I removed the six nut’s. My question is…Is the hub between these pulleys? And what is this on the underside with the little square hole in it? Am I looking at a cap to keep dirt out or is this the shaft and a washer rusted together?
I’m stuck and can’t find a woodruff key or set screw anyplace and nothing wants to move. Please help before I get a bigger hammer.
