John Deere Van Brunt Grain Drill Value

There is a JD Van Brunt grain drill coming up for auction tomorrow. I looked at it today. It's on rubber and all the control levers are stuck and likely some other parts. The boxes are in pretty good shape. It's obvious it hasn't been used in quite a while. It looks like it is all there. What do they usually sell for?

It varies widely. I paid $50 for my JD B 16-8 drill (with press wheel attachment) a few years ago and put another $100 into it to make a nice unit that works well. On the other hand you see a lot of these things advertised for over $1000 but who knows if any actually sell for that. If the levers don't appear to be terminally stuck in place and everything else looks good I'd maybe go up to a few hundred bucks but probably not much more.

B, plain no fertilizer or FB with fertilizer.Had an FB, did not like it, liked the McCormick MF that I had better. My FB was stuck when I got rid of it when quit farming. New owner Amish machinery dealer and farmer got it unstuck after a couple of years and used it himself and it was loaned out this spring. And they do not want bigger boxes as with bigger boxes might have to only fill part way one time per year.

Around here, you cant touch a JD drill for under $800.Even a worn out hunk of junk will still bring $500.
