JD 920 moco ?

I bought a Deere 920 moco with rolls and am having trouble with the header tilt. I have the skid shoes in the middle set of holes and the top turnbuckle adjusted to give the cutting height I want about 3 inches. I like to leave some stubble for the hay to lay on so it dries a little better and is easier to rake. My problem is when I raise the machine at field ends the cutter bar tilts forward and shaves the ground before it raises up. It moves forward several inches before raising. My turnbuckle was wore so it was replaced with a new.All the pivot pins take grease well but are showing some wear. I have all new pins and bushings ordered for the lift assembly but will not get them on for first crop. Any ides what else to adjust? On the NH 411 that I had the cutterbar tilted back before it raised up. I have the header float springs adjusted so it floats well, could I maybe have them to tight(if to tight it would affect cutterbar height which it does not seem to).I also have some trouble with dragging up at the end of the cutterbar as well. If I can't get this thing any better it will be traded on a NH 1411 or 1409 which never drag up. Thanks for any ideas Tom

Tom, how heavy is the float at each end of the cutterbar. You say it floats well but you should be able to hand lift at each end.

The manual tells you where to set the float. Just read it yesterday when setting mine up. Don't remember for sure what it was. Something like 125lbs/side? I'm just thinking out load, just bought mine too. Haven't used it yet. Not sure if I'm helping any, but that's where I'd start.

It has to be wear in the pins. By the time you have a little play and then stick it out front a good six feet in front of the springs you magnify the slop. I've never had mine dig in but I also have it set to hug the ground a lot more. Maybe that has something to do with it. Mine doesn't noticeably tilt forward until it is near the top of the cylinder stroke.

You need to have someone slowly lift it and you get in close to see what is causing the tip. I can't imagine what would cause it other than slop in a joint.

Do you have the drawbar clevis set correctly??? It sounds like you have the machine frame tipped forward and then you have tilted the cuttterbar back. IF your frame is too low in the front it will cause the trouble your having. It also could easily be wear in the pins and bushings.

Also you should not be getting drag on the end of the cutterbar. I think your hitch is set wrong or your tractor has too low of a drawbar.

My 920 tilts as well when setting it down. The guy I bought it from said to use it to my advantage. Said it would help get a closer cut. I don't like the idea. Tried it and it dug into my hillside a bit. Reaked some major havoc. For my turtle, and internals.
