I am working on getting a Kuhn GMD 600 II up and running to mow some open land in and around an orhcard with. I have done a bunch of maintenance on the mower and got it set up correctly, I believe, on the 3 pt. The issues I am having is that the PTO shaft I thought was the one for this mower is too long. I am new to this mower however the mower is not new to the orchard I am running. I had to go out and buy a new toplink from JD to get the mower on the 2555 JD. After trying the three PTO shafts at the orchard I can't find one that fits. After doing a lot of reading I am also not sure if I need to buy a PTO shaft with a slip clutch or not. The Serial # tag is gone on the mower and I was told by the local dealer this is the only way to know what PTO shaft to order. I see two choices online, one with, a slip clutch, and one without that is listed for the GMD600 & GMD 700. I understand the purpose of the slip clutch but how do I know which one I need? The price difference is also a bit staggering!
