RM 600 finish mower

I just bought the finish mower this morning took it home and hooked it up. It works ok well all the parts function but not efficiently. The blades are dull and need to be removed only problem is I cannot remove them. I put a socket on the bolt on the blade side but cannot lock down the other end. Is there something I am missing?

I use a short length of lite chain to keep the blade from turning.
FYI - To get loose, turn in the same direction as the blades cut.

You might consider using a long piece of pipe that will fit over one end of the mower blade.

Once the pipe prevents the blade from turning counter-clockwise, use a 1/2 inch breaker bar and socket to remove the bolts.

You might also consider using an impact wrench to remove the bolts.

That is how blades are removed on our BushHog 600 and 720 mowers.

You might consider putting Vaseline petroleum jelly in the threaded holes and on the bolts when remounting the blades.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I am going to remove the blades with an impact wrench.

The middle blade bolt is tightened but the blade spins free almost as if the bolt is bottomed out and won't tighten anymore. What does this mean? Will adding a few extra washers fix this or is it a bigger problem?

The impact wrench removed the bolts with no problems and I replaced the blades. The mower works well, Thanks for the help.
