3 point disc mower blade sharpness

I have a Massey Ferguson 3 point disc mower, 7 ft cut. Got it new this will be its 4th season. I still have the original blades in it. Have not hit any rocks but the blades are a little dull and the tips are getting rounded not square like they were. Just wondering if it would be time to change them or it would not really make much difference. Thanks

When I change blades because they are a little dull, the next time that I cut I will hit a chuck hole and ruin them. I would be looking at the cutting job. If I were happy with the cut I would leave them. The disc mower cuts by impact as opposed to shearing.

On our disc mower (Vicon CM-240) we just hold each blade with Vise Grips and touch it up with a 4 inch grinder. The Vicon has 3 blades per disc. Our mower was bought in 1990 (not by us) and still has a few of the original blades on it. Most disc mower blades are made to be turned over also. It is my belief that a lot of blades are changed for no reason.

Touch up with angle grinder.

Blades aren't too expensive, I get two seasons out of one blade (flip edge)

I find cut quality goes down if the knifes get too dull.
