john deere hay fluffers

Most John Deere hay fluffers are found on a rock pile. My uncle had one leaning against a building, I can check and see if it is still there.

I cannot understand a reason for that. Were they trying to do something with them that they were not designed for the reason for that.

They were meant for a 7 foot mower swath. When mower/conditioners (haybines) came out, they wouldn't work on the 9 foot swath most of them had. They also wouldn't work in a raked windrow, so limited their use. People who fertilized their hay also found that they couldn't handle the thicker swath.

Sounds like I thought, trying to use them in conditions they were not designed for and then blaming the machine when it was the owners that were to blame for not using them properly.
