Van Brunt Grain Drill - need manual

I have an old Van Brunt grain drill (8') that has three bins. (small seed, large seed, and fertilizer). It looks like it used to have a footboard. (Does this maker it an FB??) On the one end, I found this stamped on the outside above the JD emblem. - T413M

I am not sure if T413M is a serial number or model number, but the drill looks very similar to pictures I've seen in an archived forum of a 1947 model. So far I have only used this grain drill for small seed (dwarf rape seed), but I would like to try soybeans. Since this is for a food plot, I am considering soybeans 21" rows, with dwarf rape in the two rows in between the soybeans. It is not clear to me how to accomplish this. Seems like if I were only planting soybeans, I might be able to block two out of every three tubes down in the seed tube, but that would preclude me from being able to drop rape seed down the two rows between the soybean. My guess is I have to block the seed with cover plates in the bins themselves.

I would like to find an operators manusl for this grain drill, but I am not sure if OM-N159296 is the one I need for my drill or not. any tips would be appreciated.

Ebay is a good scource(I've found/bought several manuals that way),JenSales . They are liscenced to reproduce all JD books;Did you try your JohnDeere dealer? They still service most books as reprints.

Have not tried John Deere or Ebay. Was not sure of the exact model, but maybe John Deere can help me with that. Any suggestions on how to plant a combination of small seed and larger seed? (Soybean on 21" rows and dwarf rape in the two 7" rows between the soybean). I am looking for suggestions on how to block every 3rd row in the small seed bin and only allow soybean seeds in the large seed bin to flow in the tube that corresponds to the tube that was subsequently blocked by the small seed bin. Maybe I am trying to do something abnormal here, but I am experimenting with my Foodplot and thought I would give this a try. (Soybean row, Dwarf Rape, Dwarf Rape, Soybean row, etc.)

Duct tape makes a great row plugger. Was the bottoms clean, then spray brake cleaner or either to get rid of oil/grease. Let dry and apply tape liberally

T413M is the part number for the piece that you were looking at.

I would suggest going to JDParts.com and do an "equipment search" for the term "drill." You should get a listing of parts catalogs for drills. Start with the older PDF parts catalogs and look through them to see if you can match up your drill. The first couple of pages should show some equipment pictures. The parts catalog might show a larger drill than what you have, but overall look should match. For example, I have a model B 14 x 7 drill (14 rows on 7 inch spacing) but the parts catalog shows a 20 x 7 drill, but I can match it up to mine by the overall look. Hope this helps.

I tried a search on that part number on JDParts.com, with no result, which is because the older parts catalogs are in PDF format and not searchable.
