New Idea 6A corn picker

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Combines and Harvesters forum.

A friend of mine recently picked up a New Idea 6A picker. It appears to be basically the 2 row version of the No. 7. He originally bought it for parts, but it seems to be all there and in really good shape. I suggested that he might consider getting it running instead of parting it out.

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the 6A. I've never seen them mentioned on this forum or on the other forum I visit. Are they rare, or did they all get worn out and scrapped? Any info is appreciated.

Slow machine with modern corn yields here. Worked fine, just built for 75bu corn.....

Still have some parts dad hung on the wall when we scrapped ours. Need anything?

Around here most pull type pickers were 1 row, very very few 2 row pickers and then most were mounted pickers. This is western Ohio. I think out in Ill or Iowa that might be different.

(quoted from post at 09:24:43 05/19/15) Hey Rich! How is your picker project coming" Is the chain I sent working? Steve
Hi Steve!
The chain worked perfectly. Many thanks again for that.
The picker is coming along well. It's all together except to put the elevator back on. I pulled it outside while I was waiting for the last couple parts. I was going to hook the tractor PTO up and turn it over, but before I could get to it mama robin built a nest in it and laid 4 eggs. I didn't have the heart to boot her out, so I guess it'll wait a couple more weeks. :)
Thanks for asking.
