My brother has a ford 250 series baler that the orc has failed on.He has been searching for parts, but came up empty. Can anyone name an old implement parts yard,or does anyone have one we could use for parts. The orc is on rear of pto shaft and then chain drives the flywheel. Thanks for any and all help.Mark

Ford balers are not too common. If no luck finding an ORC in a junkyard or fencrow:

Option #1: Take it apart and see what is worn such that it is causing it not to function. My guess is there are some wedge shaped ramps that are worn down or some spring loaded pin holes that are wallowed out. Build the damge areas up with weld or braze and reshaped best you can with grinder and hope for the best.

Option #2: Weld the ORC hub to the PTO shaft or bolt it solid somehow so that the baler ORC is defeated. Then you absolutely must use an external style clicker type ORC on the tractor like an 8N ford tractor owners use or any other brand tractor with tranny driven non-live PTO that does not have a built in ORC. These are avaialbe for like $50 to $80 bucks or so at any farm supply store

Thanks for your response-I've taken it apart and the ramp & roller springs are gone. The problem was it would slip and not drive the pulley to the flywheel.I looked at welding it;not sure if it would hold up to the load. And thanks-we did think of the external orc, which would be needed. We have not ruled out the welding, but would like to find the parts. However,it's doubtful there are any to be had. But if anyone knows of any it would be appreciated.Mark
