IH sickle bar mower questions

I recently bought a used IH sickle bar mower. Not sure what model. Has single wheel in back and mounts on tractor drawbar. Have not been able to hook it up yet because do not have correct hardware. Anyway, it appears that if I center the mower pto drive shaft behind the tractor the sickle will not clear the right rear tire. And if I shift the mower to the right in order to clear the tire, then the PTO drive shaft will be running at an angle. Is that the proper way to do it? Or does the pto drive shaft need to run straight back? Maybe my tractor is just too wide for the mower? Any ideas?

Keep equal and opposite angles on pto knuckles, in phase and it will be just fine. Had to be real careful about doing that when running high horsepower tractors on the dynamometer. In other words, don't run one knuckle at an angle and the other one straight or you don't cancel out the changes in velocity . Art Warsaw(owner, & designer of A & W dynamometers) gave me a lesson on that.
