Hello everyone, my dad has a guy interested in his 6 row cultivator. It is a S tine 6 row, 3 point mounted, BusHog brand. He can't remember what he had to give for it when he bought it years ago, hasn't seen any sell at any local auctions in a long time. It is located in central MI and us complete and works well. I know there is no longer much need for row crop cultivators anymore, the guy who is interested does organic or no/low herbicide. Is this thing only worth $75 a ton? I think my dad is thinking $500-750, but he really has no idea. Thanks for any help guys.

I bought a good John Deere 6 row s tine a couple of years ago for $150. At auctions around here they usually go for 200 to 300.

$300 or less gets a lot of then around here too. That looks like a fairly nice deal yet, are the shovels like new thrn it might get somewhere between $300 and $500 to someone who wants one this time of year......

Coulters on a row crop cultivator? Never heard of that in my 71 years on this farm. And depending on shovels, type of soil and speed may not need any shields even in small crops. And new rolling shields are avaible. Around here most go to scrap man.

I think your Dad is right on the price he would need to get to be happy! Looks like it is in good shape, A hook up and use tool. All the cheap prices could be any where in the country. Real prices are more local. Like anything you are trying to sell is find your market and start high you can always drop it.

One or two fairly large coulters are common on newer row cultivators, they stablize the cultivator and keep it running straight ahead with the straight blade(s).

I forgot to mention he has the shields and pretty
sure the coulters too. I guess if it's worth $250
or less I'll cut it up for steel to build stuff with,
and scrap the rest. It has very nice straight
pieces of heavy steel in it, and I can't buy that
much steel for $250. Thanks for the replies
everyone

That's one of the good ones, 7 tines instead of 5. In really heavy trash, it might plug up, but for normal cultivating, the extra 2 tines clean up the weeds and grass better. Around here, all of them had rolling shields so you could drive faster. I had a 8 row set up like that years ago, you could really cover some ground with it. I would guess $200 to $300. Chris

The coulters are stabilizers. Without them the cultivator will drift side to side, not desirable for a row crop cultivator.

RBoots, if you do take it apart I would be interested in some of the "units" to build me a small cultivator. I bet you could get $500. on CL.

If he is organic or even semi organic, he needs a good cultivator and not for scrap price. I would want 500 or would get that much use out of the channel irons. IH had a tine similar to that called Danish tine I believe and it did a good job.
