IH Double bottom plow ID and disk harrow help

Hello, my name is Daniel and I use a farmall H and will be using a newly acquired farmall M (once I get it to the farm) for haying. I got the H last year with a mower bar 16 ft hayrake and a parts mower along with a double bottom plow. I have run the mower bar and rake already this year after a little greasing they work like new! I was just trying to make sense of the plow. I don't need to plow anything this year I was just trying to get it hooked up/see if it's all there. They guy I got it from was selling it for an old woman who's late husband was the original owner of the H. He didn't know how the plow hooked up or if it had all the parts so I made an account here to hopefully find out. It is in 2+ peices both identical as far as I can tell. I also have another liftall piston but I not sure if that goes with this or the parts mower.

Here are some photos of the plow peices.

Also I just dragged this disk harrow out of the woods in my back 40 today and was wondering if anyone knew how I could use it on the H or M.

Thanks, Daniel

Not sure about the plow but I have a harrow just about like that one. I call mine junk and propped it up at the side of the driveway as yard art.

That disk is only the back half of some odd unknowen make. The plow would be called a single bottom 2 way plow and I would guess it is for an A and not an H. Only one bottom would be in use at any time.

Thanks for the replies, I'll search for single bottom two way plows to see if I can find a picture of one on a tractor to help with hitching this one up.

Im fairly sure it is for an H or M because those were the only two tractors on the farm that I bought it from According to the guy who has lived on the next door farm his whole life.

I prolly should have been a li'l more definite in my earlier response! The plows are for an "H", and may also fit an "M". They appear to be complete. I sold an identical set to Vito a year ago, although a few parts were missing. The one thing you will need, if you don't already have it, is the selector valve for the lift-all, that allows you to activate one cylinder, the other cylinder or both at the same time! Sorry, I can't help with operator's manual or mounting instructions! I have a general knowledge of how they mount, but not specifics! After all, it has been 60+ years since I saw them on the tractor!

Thanks for the info, would that be anything like this?

If I do in fact have all the parts I found some photos that look similar I think I can piece it together. They require removing the drawbar it looks like. So that might be an excuse for another farmall :)

The cylinder and the strap with bushing on one end & slotted hole on the other end, are the only parts that are familiar to me. The selector valve that I mentioned earlier, mounted up beside the steering shaft support, and most likely stayed with the original tractor that the plows were mounted on. The crank shaped piece on the rod end of the lift-all cylinder carried the front of the cylinder when said cylinder was mounted in the upper position, as for the plows. I'm not sure how it mounted to the tractor, as it is different than the ones I remember! The strap carried the front of the cylinder when it was in the lower position for the mower! As they say, a picture would be worth a thousand words!

I found this. I believe it is H 186.

Thanks for the info Dave and that does look like it shunkfarm! Awesome I'm going to get that manual now.

I can't find the selector valve on my H which is interesting because that would be the original tractor these plows were on. Unless it was the m that was the only other tractor on the farm.

I do have another lift all piston on my H right now to lift the mower and the other one in the truck bed in the picture above So I think I have everything except for the sector valve I guess.

Looking at the cylinder that you pictured, I'm wondering if the previous owner used those 1/4 turn valves to select which plow could be dropped, instead of the selector valve up above!?
Just a thought!
Dave

If you open this link, you should get a picture of the selector valve.

I definitely don't have anything remotely like that photo or any levers that I don't know the function of. You could be on to something about the cylinder I think . When I hooked up the mower bar I couldn't get it to lift until I turned the wooden bar you can see. (The cylinder on the tractor has one too)

Ayup, I figgered as much! It will work fine that way! Just shut off the valve on the cylinder you want to hold the plow up with, then when you turn around to go the other way, shut the valve on the cylinder that just lifted, and open the valve on the opposite cylinder before you drop!
