I got a sickle mower today

So I ended up buying a 451 new Holland
mower. Paid 500 and runs smooth and
quiet and hooks well to my 3020. Only
thing missing is the button for the PTO
shaft where it connects to the tractor.
My question is can I replace that with a
button from somewhere or can I use a
bolt. Wanna cut hay next weekend with
it. Don't have a manual yet but can
someone tell me if there are any hidden
greae fittings. Thanks guys

Most farm and home stores sell replacement button or yes if you have the hole in your PTO shaft you can use a bolt. BTDT many many times over he years on stuff

Picture of it hooked to the 3020. To rainy to use it

You should really see if the manufacturer has a PDF lubrication chart, or ask the dealership to email you the page pending the manual purchase. My IH service guy sends me pages from the combine books all the time. Reason I say is that there is always at least one fitting on a sickle that needs to be greased every couple hours. This is generally where the knife attaches to the mower but some mowers have other places in the drive line that need a lot of grease. Be safe. I burned up an old mower once in my learning days. Not a happy experience if there is hay standing. Just greasing at the start of the day may not be enough.

good buy! my 455 was 750 but I needed a bumper pull.

take the belt off and check the outside pully/flywheel and check for wobble. wobble destroys the oil seal; that oil seal number is 710323 comes off a 86 mazda 323 inner.8.00 each. there is a unique way nh secures the crank cone bearing adjustment nut see screw in photo below. the pin must engage the slot in the castillated nut to secure the cone bearing nut adjutment. If after you replace the flywheel it has a slight wobble its not aligned right. loosen 18 turn and try again. youbwill know it when you feel it. all zerkes on cutter head should be greased every 4 hours [when new].

the pin must fit in the slot in the castellated nut that adjusts the crankshaft cone bearing clearance; and removes some slop on the cutter head. i adjusted mine wiggle tight but the final adjustment will be dictated by the slot to pin orientation. as you see in this photo the pin will not fit in the nut slot as it is indexed on a flat; time to loosen it 1/8 of a turn
